Music Therapy

Music Therapy

Have you ever sung a lullaby to a donkey? Or played guitar for a pony?

Music Therapy is a therapeutic, goal-orientated approach provided by a credentialed professional. Music Therapists use music to help individuals achieve non-musical goals. At Promise Ranch, Music Therapists incorporate numerous interventions to work on goals that can include: motor/physical, sensory, emotional, social, cognitive, behavioral, and can even include relaxation and mindfulness.

Music Therapy can be beneficial to individuals across all ages and diagnoses. Through the use of fun and engaging interventions, music therapy can incorporate many different instruments and songs. Music therapy is very individualized, just like our music tastes, which is why client-preferred music is always incorporated in sessions. Instrument play is often a main focus during a session as it can touch on all the goals mentioned above and more. Songwriting is also a component that can help individuals express themselves in a fun and new way. Our horses love to hear the songs clients write, play and sing to them! As each individual is so unique, so is each music therapy session!
